I've just been to see
La Vie en Rose - the story of Edith Piaf. What can I say . . . .I think I would have cried all the way through if there hadn't been other people in the room. There were only about 10 or 15 people in the whole place, although the guy we gave our tickets to said there'd been 54 at the earlier showing. It was at the ARC Stockton [that's in England not CA].
The photography, the theatrical devices, the acting, the passion, the sadness and tragedy . . . .I was emotionally drained when I came out.
If you haven't seen it - go soon. If you go to Paris today, you'll meet similar strong women out for a laugh, full of life and all with a story to tell. It's strange, but that aspect of Parisien life still exists alongside the modern and mundane. It's the stuff of contemporary French cartoon characters - like my favourite Cha

Anyway it was brilliant.
The ticket woman didn't know how to work the computer and was busy printing invoices for schools and thought that was OK to do in front of customers who wanted tickets. The food people only did a hot menu during the daytime, so that unemployed people and pensioners could benefit and not the hard working Joe Publics who had to arrive for the evening performance. But - there is a very nice Italian restaurant across the street, which we just had time to go to.
